Customs clearance procedures at an industrial complex in North Korea are now simpler.
The Unification Ministry announced Wednesday an end to mandatory military searches for goods and products entering the Gaesong Industrial Complex. A selective rather than comprehensive inspection of goods and products going in the complex is now in force.
Inter-Korean trading and passage practices will also be improved to cut logistics costs and quicken customs clearance.
Effective from Wednesday, no military searches will be performed on goods going to the complex through the Kyongui Railway, which links Seoul to Shinuiju in the North. CIQ inspections will be conducted instead.
Import or export of goods within authorized areas will be allowed without permission after approval from authorities.
The ministry will also continue to promote deregulation and ask the North to simplify the customs clearance process.
