GNP Chair Calls for More Action on NK Atrocities

Opposition leader Park Geun-hye is urging the government to pay more attention to human rights abuses in North Korea.

Speaking at the National Assembly Friday, the chairwoman of the Grand National Party pressed the administration to stop watching atrocities in the North with its arms folded, saying the problem is not confined to the communist country.

Park expressed shock after she and other lawmakers watched videotape of public executions in North Korea.

She said the government must dig up related facts and make its official position clear on the issue, while seeking cooperation with the international community to end such inhumane treatment.
