Ministry to Simplify Steps for Inter-Korean Exchanges

The Unification Ministry will streamline systems and procedures related to inter-Korean economic cooperation and cultural exchanges.

The ministry will abolish security checks by the military on vehicles using the cross-border Gyeongeui and Donghae railroads.

It will also extend to two years the effective period of approval for vehicles in inter-Korean economic projects, from the current one to two months.

The measures will take effect from the end of the month.

Also in the works is a revision to greatly simplify identification checks for South Koreans touring Mount Geumgang in North Korea.

An official said reviews of related laws and regulations will continue in order to simplify procedures and systems.
