Voice of America says there is a possibility that the bird flu virus spreading quickly across North Korea could be an H5N1 flu strain potentially lethal to humans.

The VOA said Wednesday that experts have yet to confirm whether the avian flu recently found in the North is indeed the H5N1 strain, which has killed at least 49 people in Asia in the last two years.

It went on to say that the bird flu outbreak in the North could completely destroy the country's poultry industry.

The poultry industry has been one of the few promising industries in the North, evincing steady growth.
