North Korea's state newspaper said Thursday that yielding to the United States would be tantamount to death, trumpeting that it would never give in to American 'hostility'.

The North's state-run Korean Central News Agency quoted the Rodong Sinmun as saying that Washington is currently using both carrots and sticks in its policies toward various countries, including North Korea.

The paper claimed that such 'carrot tactics' in fact pointed to hawkish intents, arguing that the former Soviet Union had eventually collapsed due to step-by-step submission to U.S. enticements.
