North Korea has reported Amnesty International's criticism of the annual human rights report published by the US State Department.

Radio Pyongyang quoted foreign media as saying Amnesty blasted the US government's audacity in denouncing other nations over human rights.

The US State Department released in February a human rights report and another on boosting support for democracy and human rights worldwide late last month.

The broadcast said Amnesty took issue over the Bush administration's judgement of others while ignoring human rights violations in the United States.

The US report on global human rights said North Korea remains one of the most repressive countries in the world.
