Two Koreas to Meet Next Week on Bird Flu

Officials of South and North Korea will likely hold working-level talks next week on how to contain the bird flu outbreak in North Korea.

The Unification Ministry in Seoul said Monday that the North's quarantine authorities phoned in a proposal for a meeting in the North Korean border town of Gaesong between April 20th and 22nd.

The North also thanked Seoul for its willingness to provide medicine and quarantine equipment.

Pyongyang sent a wish list of medicine and quarantine equipment to contain the outbreak, and asked Seoul to send the supplies to its western port of Nampo as previously agreed.

The South will fulfill the North's request within this week.
