Some 100 North Korean Catholics held a memorial mass for the late Pope John Paul II in Pyongyang.

Kim Yong-il of Chang Chung Catholic Church, the only Catholic institution in the North, reported the event Monday in an interview with the Associated Press TV News.

Kim said his church held a prayer gathering, and that Catholic families in the North prayed at home to offer condolences after hearing of the pope's death.
