North Korea's legislature has approved the national budget.
During its one-day session Monday, the Supreme People's Assembly decided to raise this year's budget by 11-point-four percent from last year, allocating 15-point-nine percent of the budget to the military, three-tenths of a percentage point higher from last year.
The session also decided to boost by 29 percentage points the budget for the agricultural sector. But no figures were given for the 2005 budget or the year before.
The North Korean legislature opened Monday after being postponed by one month without any explanation.
The session had been expected to bring up significant decisions on the North's nuclear standoff, but there was no mention of the issue.
The legislature usually meets once or twice a year to approve budgets or policies already set by the Stalinist regime.
