The presidential office has denied a report that former Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri will deliver a message from President Roh Moo-hyun to North Korean leader Kim Jong-il when she arrives in Pyongyang Wednesday.

Cheong Wa Dae spokesman Kim Man-soo said the report by Japan's Kyodo New Agency was completely groundless.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Japanese news service had said that Megawati will deliver to Kim a message stating President Roh Moo-hyun's readiness to visit Pyongyang to reopen inter-Korean dialogue in the event Pyongyang shows positive signals.

The report claimed that the ex-Indonesian president received the message when she met with Roh in Seoul early this month.

Roh has repeatedly said he would not propose an inter-Korean summit unless the North Korean nuclear issue is resolved.

Megawati is visiting Pyongyang to attend events for the naming of an orchid plant as "Kimilsungia," after the late North Korean founding leader Kim Il-sung.
