Unification Minister Chung Dong-young has vowed active efforts to allow people to travel to China by rail for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Chung made the remarks Monday during a question and answer session at the National Assembly.

The Kyongui Railway linking Seoul and Sinuiju, a North Korean city on the Chinese border, was opened late last year.

Chung said it is now technically possible to travel by rail to Beijing from Dorasan Station on the Kyongui Line, via Pyongyang, Sinuiju and Dandong.
