Unification Minister Chung Dong-young says talks on sanctions on North Korea or taking the nuclear issue to the U-N Security Council are undesirable at this time.

Chung on Wednesday said the current situation calls for the North's immediate return to the six-party talks to resume practical discussions on the nuclear issue.

He called for more diplomatic efforts to that end by the parties to the talks.
