Two Koreas Discuss Bird Flu

Officials of the two Koreas on Friday discussed joint efforts to help the North contain its bird flu outbreak.

In the North Korean city of Gaesung, the two sides focused on the South's sending of additional quarantine equipment and medicine to the North.

On Saturday, the South will send seven hundred-20 million won worth of supplies including six hundred diagnosis kits, 18 thousand antiseptic and disinfectant sprayers and two vehicles for sterilization to the port of Nampo in western North Korea.

Late last month, the North admitted to culling over 200 thousand chickens after bird flu broke out at several farms.

A Food and Agriculture Organization expert sent to the North said the virus is not of the same strain that killed dozens of people in Asia before.
