White House and Pentagon officials are closely monitoring recent satellite photographs showing North Korea's suspected preparation for a nuclear weapon test.

The New York Times on Thursday said the Bush administration has detected a suspected test site via satellite, but is not sure of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's intentions.

The report added Kim may be staging a show for U-S spy satellites.
