South and North Korea are trying to reach a final agreement on pending bilateral issues during extended bilateral talks Thursday.
The negotiations at the North's border city of Gaesong are focusing on whether to include agreements on the North's nuclear issue and inter-Korean Cabinet-level talks in a joint statement to be issued after the conclusion of the ongoing meeting.
Earlier on Wednesday, the two sides agreed on three major points, including opening ministerial talks in Seoul next month, dispatching a South Korean delegation to Pyongyang celebrations for the fifth anniversary of the historic inter-Korean summit and providing 200-thousand tons of fertilizer aid to the North by mid-June.
The inter-Korean talks were extended by one more day to Thursday as the two Koreas failed to agree on a joint statement the day before.
It is the second time in as many days for the talks to be extended, as they were originally scheduled to conclude on Tuesday afternoon.
