Chief negotiators of two Koreas on Thursday discussed differences over pending issues in the North Korean border city of Gaesong.
Vice Unification Minister Rhee Bong-jo told reporters that the talks centered on scheduling inter-Korean cabinet talks and a Seoul delegation's attendance at a Pyongyang joint ceremony on June 15th to mark the fifth anniversary of the 2000 summit.
Seoul's chief negotiator said the North raised no objection to the joint event, raising hope that it will also accept a minister-level delegation to Pyongyang.
On the nuclear issue, Rhee reaffirmed Seoul's position of a peaceful resolution and the North's return to dialogue, urging a more positive response from Pyongyang.
The two sides, however, have yet to discuss the schedule and procedure of 200,000 tons of fertilizer aid to the North.
Rhee said further working-level talks will discuss other issues such as more separated family reunions and joint events to mark the opening of two cross-border roads and trial runs of two inter-Korean railways.
The inter-Korean talks were extended to Thursday as both sides failed to agree on a joint statement the day before.
