Ministers to Discuss Politics, Military

Unification Minister Chung Dong-young on Friday said the 15th inter-Korean ministerial meeting in Seoul will focus on military and political issues.

Reporting the results of inter-Korean vice ministers' talks to the ruling Uri Party's central standing committee, he said inter-Korean exchanges in the political and military arenas are far behind those of the private sector

He stressed the six-way talks are the only viable option to address the nuclear issue, and that both sides will discuss the matter in-depth at the June cabinet-level talks.

Chung also pledged to resolve pending issues including reunions of separated families and reconnecting inter-Korean railroads and highways with Pyongyang.

On the nuclear issue's exclusion from the joint statement made after the vice ministerial meeting, he said the North was attentive to the South's clear position on the matter.
