Former U-N chief arms inspector Hans Blix says North Korea is likely to possess nuclear weapons or equipment.

In an interview with Kyodo News in New York Wednesday, Blix said the International Atomic Energy Agency has warned of the high possibility of the North's nuclear armament.

Since Pyongyang declared its plutonium possession from the early 1990s, he said it must have produced more plutonium and imported nuclear technology over the past ten years.

Blix said the agency found more plutonium during an inspection than what the North declared, and noted Pyongyang's contact with rouge nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan of Pakistan.
