The Korean Broadcasting System will stage a concert on North Korea's Mount Geumgang on June 8th.

The “Open Concert” will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the inter-Korean summit and the mark of one million tourists to the resort area.

Vice Unification Minister Rhee Bong-jo on Friday told a regular news briefing that Hyundai Asan and the Asia-Pacific Peace Committee of North Korea have agreed to the event.

The number of South Korean visitors to the scenic mountain is expected to exceed one million next month.

Tourism officials and artists from the North will also take part.

Some 973-thousand South Koreans have visited the scenic resort in the North since the tour began in late 1998. The number of tourists there this year has jumped 94 percent year-on-year.
