A leading football magazine has named former national soccer team coach, Cha Bum-kun, South Korea's Player of the Century.

Cha topped a poll with over 50 percent of the votes in the monthly periodical Best Eleven. He had almost twice as many as second-placed Hong Myung-bo, the current national team captain.

Cha played in Germany for 10 years before taking over as national team boss in 1997.

Cha is still regarded as Asia's most successful foreign export after twice lifting the UEFA Cup with Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen.

He also held the record for the most number of goals scored by a foreigner in Germany, claiming 98 in over three hundred games.
