North Korea has lashed out at the United States for its recent deployment of stealth fighters to South Korea.

In a statement Wednesday, North Korea's Committee for Peaceful Unification of the Fatherland called the deployment of the F-117 stealth jets an intolerable provocation.

The committee in charge of South Korean affairs claimed that the U.S. and South Korea are plotting to ruin the June 15th joint celebrations of the 2000 inter-Korean summit by deploying the stealth fighters to the South.

The committee also called on Seoul to assume responsibility for allowing the deployment of the American jets, which it claimed is aimed at a preemptive strike on the North.
