Two Koreas to Jointly Bid for 2014 Asiad

South Korea's Incheon City and the North Korean capital of Pyongyang have agreed to jointly bid to host the 2014 Asian Games.

Incheon City Mayor Ahn Sang-soo announced the agreement Thursday after a four-day visit to Pyongyang.

Ahn said his city and Pyongyang plan to submit a joint Asian Games application to the Olympic Council of Asia by month's end, and form a joint consultative body to prepare for bidding activities.

Incheon city also invited North Korea to send athletes to the 16th Asian Athletics Tournament to be held in the South Korean port city in September. The two sides also agreed to promote joint cooperation projects in various other fields, including culture and arts.

The Olympic Council of Asia will convene a general assembly in Doha, Qatar in December of next year to decide on the venue of the 2014 Asiad.
