North Korean leader Kim Jung-il is reportedly planning to visit Russia in April.

Accordingly, his return visit to Seoul is expected to be made in May or June.

A Russian state broadcast reported that a high-ranking Russian official confirmed Kim's Moscow visit in April. Reportedly, the specific date of the Russia-North Korea summit will be announced in Pyongyang and Russia later.

Kim's visit to Russia will be the first in 14 years since the late North Korean leader Kim Il-sung visited Russia in 1986.

Diplomatic sources said that the two summits are expected to discuss various issues including the second inter-Korean summit, situation around the Korean Peninsula, how to strengthen the Russia-North Korea relations and how to cope with the United States' new Northeast Asia policy.
