Prime Minister Lee Han-dong said Monday that the government will develop and implement diversification programs that better reflect the traits of the unemployed, enabling it to more effectively provide them with jobs.

He was reporting to the plenary session of the National Assembly on this year's major government business. Lee said...to keep young people from remaining unemployed for too long, the government will push for a number of employment measures, such as aid for internship programs, information and technology training and the creation of new firms.

The government has chosen the unemployment issue as its most urgent business this year.

Lee also promised that the government will do everything it can to refrain from raising the cost of public facilities this year in order to keep the price-growth index at the 3 percent-level.

Concerning the revision of the controversial National Security Law, Lee said, "the government will handle the issue very cautiously without rushing it." He said the government will hear a variety of opinions from all segments of society and conduct close consultations between the ruling and opposition camps.
