A domestic musical comedy, "Nanta," that incorporates pantomime, will go on a 36-week U.S. tour from September.
PMC production said that they would receive a minimum guarantee of 4 million U.S. dollars from the Richard Franklin Productions, a U.S. agency which will handle the tour performances. PMC Production added that they expect the total revenue to exceed 8 million dollars.
This will be the troupe's second tour of the United States, following a successful run there in the first half of last year.
"Nanta," which has been running at Seoul's Nanta Theater in the Kyunghyang Daily Building, is a non-verbal stage performance which mixes many eclectic elements, such as theater, music and "Samulnori," a kind of Korean traditional folk music, in a very ingenious way.
Over 500,000 people have so far attended the more than 1,600 performances given by five different sets of Nanta troupes, dubbed the "Blue, White, Red, Black, and Gold" teams.
