A joint South-North ceremony marking the fifth anniversary of the June 2000 inter-Korean summit entered its second day Wednesday.
The South’s civic delegation, comprising some three-hundred officials, will attend a unification rally, a photo exhibition and later a traditional play performance. Separately, the 40-member government delegation will attend a luncheon to be hosted by the North’s chief delegate to the joint event, Kim Ki-nam.
On Tuesday night, the North Korean government hosted a dinner for the visiting South Korean delegates. At the dinner, the North's Premier Pak Pong-ju called on the two Koreas to carry out their respective duties and responsibilities to realize national unification based on the June 15 Joint Declaration.
In response, Seoul's chief delegate, Unification Minister Chung Dong-young, said South-North relations should witness further change as they mark the fifth anniversary of the June, 2000 inter-Korean summit.
Chung called for the removal of mistrust to usher in a new era of the Korean people.
The South's delegations will return home on Friday.
