Samsung Electronics says it has developed technology to make a next generation super memory chip.

A company spokesman says the four-Giga Dynamic Random Access Memory chip technology is the world's first.

He said the new memory chip can store five hundred million letters, 32,000 pages of newspaper, 640 books, 1,600 photos or 64 hours of voice data. The chip is intended for high-speed server computers.

The company announced the development of the new technology at an international seminar on semiconductors in San Francisco Thursday.
