Inter-Korean Ministerial Talks Continue

South and North Korea have opened a second day of formal discussions in their ministerial talks.

Thursday's talks are being devoted to coordinating views on major proposals made in Wednesday's session. The two sides are to wrap up the talks with a joint statement later in the day, but it's not clear whether they will be able to reach an agreement as scheduled.

On Wednesday, the South’s delegation proposed holding high-level military talks on a regular basis and Red Cross talks on resolving the issue of South Korean POWs in the North.

Meanwhile, the North asked for further food aid and talks on promoting cooperation in agriculture.

The North’s delegation is scheduled to meet President Roh Moo-hyun on Thursday afternoon and attend a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan before heading back home on Friday.
