The Thai foreign ministry says North Korean Ambassador to Bangkok Oh Sung-chul died last week. He was 53.
A ministry spokesman on Thursday said Oh's cremated remains will be transferred to Pyongyang following the funeral at the North's embassy in Bangkok Friday.
Neither the ministry nor a North Korean embassy official would comment on cause of death, but the official said Oh was cremated Sunday at a Buddhist temple.
