The World Health Organization and the government are willing to provide long-term support to improve North Korea's health and medical services.

At a news conference in Seoul Thursday, Dr. Eigil Sorenson, chief of the WHO office in Pyongyang, said he and South Korean officials agreed on the need for long-term medical assistance to the North.

The physician said his discussions in Seoul included training of the North's health workers and streamlining medical facilities there.
