Gyeonggi Province may build a new economic complex in the Paju or Yeonchon areas close to the inter-Korean border that would employ laborers from North Korea.

The provincial government on Friday said the "Peace Zone" project is intended to enhance inter-Korean exchanges along with other ventures such as joint rice farming and construction of a noodle factory in the North.

Gyeonggi will submit the official proposal to Pyongyang and Seoul after finalizing details such as specific location and size.
