NK Threatens to Snub Japan from Talks

Written: 2005-07-04 15:55:22Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

North Korea has warned of Japan's possible exclusion from the six-way talks.

The official daily Minju Chosun on Monday cited the remarks of Japanese Foreign Ministry official Mitoji Yabunaka that Tokyo will not tolerate any nuclear development by Pyongyang, and will raise the nuclear issue at the G-8 Summit.

The newspaper blasted Japan for using the summit for its own political gain, and for trying to impress the world by showing its willingness to help address global concern over the North’s nuclear program.

It accused Tokyo of seeking to create favorable conditions for its permanent membership bid for the U.N. Security Council by speaking on behalf of Washington.
