Students will hold a large-scale event for reunification on Mount Geumgang in North Korea on August 15th, the 60th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japan’s colonial occupation.

In a news conference Friday, a collegiate association for cross-country pilgrimages and the student unions of five universities said the event will attract some 1,400 students to the mountain, to establish peace on the peninsula and oppose Japanese militarism.

Later this month, some 600 students will begin a cross-country trip from Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, to Imjingak Pavilion south of the inter-Korean border.
