Inter-Korean economic talks entered their third day Monday.
The chief delegates of the two sides held discussions Sunday and reached basic agreement on establishing an inter-Korean economic cooperation office, forming a working-level committee on inter-Korean maritime affairs as well as trial runs on cross-border railways and roads.
At the Sunday session, the South proposed implementing nine agreements on inter-Korean economic projects, exchanging economic delegations and opening a more direct air route between the capital cities of the two Koreas.
Meanwhile, the North requested 500 thousand tons of rice and proposed building basic facilities for the Gaesong industrial complex.
The two sides are likely to announce agreements on a host of inter-Korean projects on Monday if discussions proceed smoothly.
The talks, the 10th of its kind, come nearly a month after a Cabinet-level meeting during which the two sides agreed on fisheries cooperation and joint agricultural projects.
