In a related development in Germany... the beef industry is urging the government to allow export of cow to be slaughtered as a precaution against mad cow disease to North Korea.

The request follows a news report that North Korea wants shipment of beef worth 200,000 head of cow from Germany.

The reports by ARD said a German relief group active in North Korea conveyed the North Korean request to German beef industry officials.

The German government has earlier ordered 400,000 head of cow be bought and slaughtered to compensate cow growers who suffered damage due to mad cow disease.
