The North’s official Rodong Shinmun newspaper says if the United States unilaterally forces the North to dismantle its nuclear weapons, it will not help realize nuclear-free Korean Peninsula, but will rather escalate the region's nuclear crisis.

The paper made the remarks in a Monday commentary carried by the North’ official Korean Central News Agency.

The commentary also warned of serious consequences if Washington avoids its responsibility for the de-nuclearization of the Korean Peninsula in the upcoming six-way talks and doggedly hews to its mission to disarm the North.

The paper also said that Pyongyang would never yield to Washington’s unilateral demand for it to give up its nuclear weapons, stressing that establishing a mutually respectful and trusting relationship would contribute to progress towards achieving a de-nuclearized Peninsula.
