Renovation of Samjiyeon Airport to Begin Next Week

Repair work on North Korea’s Samjiyeon Airport will begin next Wednesday ahead of next month's launch of a pilot tour program to Mt. Baekdu.
An official of Seoul's state-run Korea National Tourism Organization said Wednesday that renovation work at the airport is scheduled to end around August 20th.
Meanwhile, the organization and Hyundai Asan, the South Korean operator of the tour project, are seeking to conduct a field survey at Mt. Baekdu from Saturday to Tuesday and are awaiting the North’s response on the proposed timeframe.
