Temple stay programs will take place at South Korea’s Geonbongsa Temple in Goseong and the North’s Shingyesa Temple in Mt. Geumgang next month.

Organizers from the nation’s largest Buddhist sect, the Jogye Order, said Thursday that the event would run for four days from August 13 under the theme of ‘reunification’ and likely draw more than one-hundred participants.

On the first day of the temple stay, participants will draw up a unification declaration and meditate at the South’s Geonbongsa Temple.

On the second day, participants will head to the North Korean temple and hold a joint service in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the nation’s liberation from Japan’s colonial rule and the fifth anniversary of the adoption of the June 15 Joint declaration.
