The government has commenced testing the communication link for August 15th video reunions of separated families.

In a trial operation, state-run Korea Telecom checked the performance of fiber optic cables that were linked earlier on Monday, connecting Munsan, Gyeonggi Province, with the North Korean border city of Gaesong.

Technicians from the two Koreas will test the transmission line daily until August 14 and consult with each other when necessary to make connection improvements by using a direct Seoul-Pyongyang telephone line that was established in preparation for the video reunions.
