'Energy Aid to NK Depends on 6-Way Talks'

The government will discuss its proposed energy aid to North Korea only after the six-way talks produce a joint statement that includes Pyongyang's promise to dismantle its nuclear program.

Unification Minister Chung Dong-young on Tuesday said Seoul will discuss the aid with all parties to the talks, including indepth discussions with the North.

Chung was giving a briefing on measures and outlook for the talks to the National Assembly.

With the talks finally opening in Beijing, he said the meeting should address all pending issues even if it takes several weeks.

The minister said the commitment of each party to seek progress in the talks is encouraging.
