Complex Raises Inter-Korean Trade

The Gaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea has greatly expanded trading volume between the two Koreas.

The Korea International Trade Association said in a Wednesday report on inter-Korean trade that the figure for the year's first half rose 39.5 percent or 454.12 million dollars year-on-year.

The report said the value of goods leaving the complex jumped 75.68 million dollars from the same period, a 43-fold increase, and those brought in rose 2.64 million dollars.

If 15 pilot businesses inside the complex start full-scale operations, the amount of raw materials from the North and finished products from the South is seen to increase more than 100 million dollars annually.
