Korean Air has announced plans to buy new freighters from Boeing.

The latest edition of a trade magazine Flight International said the Korean national flag carrier could buy up to 16 superjumbo 747-X freighters. The reports said Boeing is in advanced discussions aimed at making Korean Air the launch customer for the stretch cargo plane.

The magazine said an order for eight planes plus eight options could be worth about three billion dollars.

The Seattle, Washington-based aerospace giant has not yet landed an order for the new freighter jet.
