9 Inter-Korean Economic Pacts Take Effect

Nine inter-Korean agreements on economic cooperation concluded since December 2002 took effect Friday.

The Unification Ministry said the two sides exchanged related documents in a meeting of liaison officers at the truce village of Panmunjom.

The agreements include a basic treaty on cross-border vehicle and train operations and another on communications, customs clearance and quarantine at the Gaesong industrial park in North Korea.

Institutional frameworks will also govern access and stays at the Gaesong park and Mount Geumgang and resolution of inter-Korean business disputes.
