S-N Civic Delegates Discuss Cooperation

Civic delegations from the two Koreas and overseas on Tuesday discussed the gradual expansion of inter-Korean exchanges and cooperation and realizing peaceful reunification.

On the last day of joint Liberation Day celebrations, delegates from labor, youth, religious, news, political and agricultural groups held separate meetings at Seoul hotels.

More than 600 union members from the Koreas said the Korean Peninsula must not see another war since workers would suffer the most.

They also agreed to lead reunification following the principles of the historic 2000 joint declaration.

About 4,000 students from the South Korean collegian group Hanchongryeon and its North Korean counterpart at northern Seoul's Kyunghee University promised to achieve reunification based on the declaration.

News, politics and agriculture groups agreed to facilitate inter-Korean exchanges and cooperation in each sector.
