The first round of inter-Korean talks on promoting agricultural cooperation has entered its second day in North Korea’s border city of Gaesong.
The two sides are expected to focus discussions on the South's proposal to create a joint farming area, the exchange of technologies and the enhancing of bilateral cooperation in a mutually beneficial way.
On the first day of negotiations Thursday, the North asked the South for help in producing and processing seeds and modernizing its storage facilities and requested the provision of fertilizer and farming machinery.
According to an official of the South’s delegation, the two sides agreed on the need to boost cooperation in agriculture in a step-by-step manner but differed on the method of implementation.
The South’s delegation is hoping that the two sides will sign a joint agreement by Friday.
