S. Korean Vessels to Dig Sand in NK

South Korean vessels are expected to dig and deliver sand in North Korea for the first time in history.

The Incheon Regional Maritime Affairs & Fisheries Office said it allowed five vessels of four companies to dig sand in the North’s Haeju Bay.

So far, only vessels of third countries have gone to the North for sand-digging and subsequent export to the South.

The five vessels are expected to dig about 2,786 ~8,066㎥of sand each through October 18th.
