North Korea has blasted South Korea for complying with a U.S. contingency plan calling for joint military action in the event of internal turmoil in the North.
The Korean Central Television Broadcasting Station on Friday quoted a government spokesman as saying Seoul's consent to the plan has dampened inter-Korean relations.
Seoul and Washington in early June agreed to further study "Conceptual Plan 5029" to prepare for a potential emergency in the North before proceeding further.
The spokesman called the agreement unacceptable since it risks another war on the Korean Peninsula, blasting the plan as showing the U.S. intent to attack the North.
By consenting to the contingency plan, he said South Korea cannot help but join a U.S. preemptive strike on the North, warning that taking part in such a war of aggression is like running into fire with dry grass in hand.
