Inter-Korean Family Reunion Opens Friday

The 11th round of inter-Korean family reunions is to open Friday for a six-day run.

A group of 99 South Koreans left Sokcho, Gangwon Province early Friday morning for the Mount Geumgang resort in North Korea for reunions with their long-lost relatives from the North.

Over the next three days, the separated families will hold six group and individual reunions, with the first starting at three in the afternoon, shortly after the Southern group's arrival at the scenic mountain resort on the east coast.

On Monday, another group of some four-hundred-30 South Koreans will travel to Mount Geumgang for similar reunions with one hundred relatives from the North.

At the end of the two sets of reunions on Wednesday, the two Koreas will hold a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a permanent reunion center at the resort.
