Three fishing boats that were detained and later released by North Korean maritime patrol crossed the Northern Limit Line to catch more fish.

Coast guard in Sokcho, Gangwon Province, and the National Intelligence Service on Tuesday said the crew confessed that they entered the North's waters after hearing fish was abundant there.

A further investigation could lead to prosecution of the fishermen for violating fisheries law if they are found to have trespassed intentionally.
