WFP: NK Recovering from Food Shortages

A United Nations relief organization says North Korea is slowing recovering from its chronic food shortages.

The World Food Program said in a report on Friday that the nation is currently harvesting vegetables following its earlier harvesting of potato, barley, and wheat.

The report noted that large-scale rice aid from the South had definitely helped the North in its effort to overcome its dire food crisis.

It also said the rice is being rationed across the nation in a daily amount of two-hundred-50 grams along with domestically-produced wheat and barley.

However, it warned a suspension of fresh outside assistance would increase the number of people feared to be excluded from food rationing from two-point-one-million in September to three-point-two-million in October.
